Hi Jenn, I look this Video when i was hide tide. Actually this beach is rocky beach so there are too many rock under the water.
Also most the the beach in Phuket are sandy beach, therefore people prefer to swim other beach. This beach is more like experience with local fisherman, seafood, good view.
Fascinating story about the sea gypsies. There’s always that wonder about nomads finding their home, as it seems that the world, or everywhere, is their home. Such a poignant tale. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve never been to Phuket because it has such a bad reputation for being really touristic. But this actually sounds really nice! It’s a shame you’re not allowed to swim at the beach, but at least there are other things to do. I love visiting local markets, so the seafood market would definitely be on my list.
Yes, this seafood market is very special. You can buy fish with the fisher man and ask the restaurant to cook for you. There will be a weight scale in front of the restaurant let say you buy 1 kg fish then they will charge USD 3 for 1 kg for cooking and ingredients.
Phuket is the most beautiful and most visited tourist destination place, each and every year thousands of foreign travelers visited Phuket for its beach life. In your blog you just described two places where I have never visited. I would love to visit the Mongan Village, because of the nomadic people and there lifestyle I love most.

Rawai Beach is really beautiful, especially in that video! That’s interesting that swimming isn’t allowed, but with the seafood market and traditional village, there’s clearly still so much to see here. I personally prefer taking pictures at beaches over swimming, so this would be perfect for me!
I loved your video! Such a special touch before reading the blog post! What an incredible beach to visit, I like the sound of the seafood market. 🙂 My camera would be full by the time I left here.
