A new initiative to celebrate Phuket’s native fruits while supporting local producers and sustainable hospitality.

At Glam Habitat Hotel in Kamala, Phuket, we believe that true hospitality lies not only in luxury, but also in authenticity. In our latest initiative to embrace the richness of our local culture, we have introduced a unique project that transforms “Som Khwai”—a tart and aromatic native fruit—into a refreshing welcome drink and delightful homemade jam for our guests.
Som Khwai, also known regionally as “Som Khwan,” is a wild citrus fruit commonly found in southern Thailand. It boasts a bold, sour flavor with a slightly bitter edge, traditionally used in local dishes and herbal remedies. Our culinary team has reimagined this fruit by blending it with natural honey and select herbs to craft a welcome drink that’s as refreshing as it is culturally rooted. Served upon arrival, the drink captures the spirit of Phuket in every sip—sweet, sour, and unmistakably tropical.
But the creativity doesn’t stop there. We’ve also introduced a house-made Som Khwai jam, served at breakfast with fresh bread. This vibrant jam adds a tangy twist to our morning offerings, giving guests a taste of the island’s lesser-known natural bounty in a simple, elegant way.
By incorporating local ingredients into our services, Glam Habitat not only offers a one-of-a-kind experience for travelers, but also strengthens our connection to the community. This project supports small-scale farmers and promotes the use of regional produce, aligning with our commitment to sustainable tourism.
We look forward to developing more locally inspired concepts and continue sharing the real flavors—and the real stories—of Phuket with the world. At Glam Habitat, every detail tells a tale, and every taste brings you closer to the island we call home.
