From retired hotel linens to vibrant community creations, Glam Habitat Hotel turns sustainability into beautiful, practical products.

At Glam Habitat Hotel, sustainability is more than a policy — it is part of our everyday practice. From energy-efficient building operations to creative upcycling initiatives, we constantly seek ways to reduce our environmental footprint while supporting the local community. Two recent projects, the Color of Kamala Picnic Sheet and the Kamala Laundry Bag Project, showcase how responsible hospitality can generate meaningful change.
The Color of Kamala Picnic Sheet began with a simple but powerful idea: turning retired hotel bedsheets into something new and useful. Instead of discarding them, we transform the fabrics into eco-friendly picnic sheets, dyed by hand using traditional techniques from Sanotic Fabric, a local community group at Kamala Beach. Each sheet is unique, vibrant, and infused with the spirit of Kamala. Guests who purchase one take home more than a souvenir; they carry a piece of sustainable craftsmanship and local heritage. Perfect for relaxing on the beach, enjoying a picnic in the park, or gifting to someone special, these sheets combine style, practicality, and a positive impact.
Building on the success of this initiative, Glam Habitat Hotel has launched the Kamala Laundry Bag Project to further reduce waste and plastic use. We collaborate with the Kamala Subdistrict Senior Citizens Club, commissioning local elders to transform unused hotel linens into colorful, tie-dyed laundry bags. This project benefits everyone involved: the hotel cuts down on plastic consumption; guests receive a durable, eco-friendly alternative to disposable bags; and the community gains additional income while keeping traditional fabric-dyeing knowledge alive.
Together, these two initiatives form part of a larger vision. By giving new life to retired textiles, we reduce waste and promote a circular economy. By working with community artisans, we strengthen local livelihoods and preserve cultural identity. And by offering these products to our guests, we invite them to be part of a movement where sustainability and hospitality go hand in hand.
Every choice matters. Whether it’s selecting a Color of Kamala Picnic Sheet or using one of our recycled laundry bags during your stay, you are directly contributing to a greener future and a stronger local community. At Glam Habitat Hotel, we believe sustainability is not just a destination but a journey we take together with our guests and neighbors — one thoughtful decision at a time.
