Giving New Life to Hotel Fabrics Through Local Craftsmanship

In an era where hotels must prioritize environmental responsibility and sustainability, Glam Habitat Hotel has initiated a creative approach to repurposing resources. One of our latest projects involves transforming hotel fabric waste into “Sanotic Tie-Dye”, with our team visiting the Kamala Subdistrict Community Enterprise, experts in natural tie-dye techniques, to learn the production process firsthand.
The visit was not only to understand every step of tie-dye creation — from preparing the fabric, tying patterns, dyeing with natural colors, to fixing the colors for durability — but also to exchange knowledge with the local community. We aim to bring the wisdom we’ve gained back to the hotel’s activities and channels, allowing our guests to appreciate and experience the charm of local craftsmanship.
Additionally, Glam Habitat Hotel plans to further develop the Sanotic Tie-Dye products produced by the community into souvenirs or retail items within the hotel. This initiative helps support local businesses and distributes income back to the community, aligning perfectly with the principles of responsible and sustainable tourism.
The fabric waste once used in our hotel, when transformed by skilled local artisans, becomes a unique, valuable product. Its natural patterns and colors reflect environmental care and demonstrate the collaboration between the business sector and the local community to create shared benefits.
This project is not just about recycling hotel fabric but also creating new stories that reflect the hotel’s social and environmental responsibility. It underscores Glam Habitat Hotel’s role in contributing to sustainable development in Kamala and Phuket.
