Learning, Sharing, and Growing Through Our First Bed-Making Competition Experience

Recently, representatives from the Housekeeping Department of Glam Habitat Hotel had the opportunity to take part in the “Bed-Making Competition” organized by the Housekeeping Management Club Phuket and Andaman at the Grand Ballroom of the Royal Phuket City Hotel. This annual competition aims to raise housekeeping standards within the hospitality industry and create a platform for knowledge sharing and best practices among hotels across the region.
This year marked the very first time our housekeeping team entered the competition. Although we did not advance to the next round, participating in the event proved to be an invaluable experience. It inspired and motivated our staff to further develop their service skills and workplace standards. Our participation also reflected Glam Habitat Hotel’s ongoing commitment to supporting staff growth and creating opportunities for learning within their profession.
Beyond the competition itself, the event featured numerous booths hosted by suppliers and vendors showcasing the latest housekeeping products and services, including cleaning equipment, linens, and innovative technologies for room management. Our team was able to engage directly with these suppliers, exchange ideas, and gather information about new products to bring back to our operations at the hotel.
The key takeaway from the day went far beyond learning how to make a bed correctly and quickly. It broadened our housekeeping team’s perspective on teamwork, time management, and how to refine service standards to meet and exceed guest expectations—the very heart of the hospitality business.
At Glam Habitat Hotel, we believe that investing in staff development is essential. Activities like this competition not only boost team morale but also help create valuable networks within the hospitality and tourism industry. Although we did not qualify this year, the experience we gained will drive us to further improve our skills and service standards, and we look forward to the opportunity to participate again in the future.
