On Thursday 8 October 2026, Glam Habitat Hotel Kamala Beach Phuket joined a planning meeting at the Kamala Subdistrict Administrative Organization (อบต.กมลา) to help prepare this year’s Loy Krathong festival. The Kamala SAO had invited local hotels, businesses, community representatives and government agencies to its meeting room in Kathu District to share ideas and coordinate how the celebration will come together.

Loy Krathong is one of Thailand’s best-loved traditions: on the full-moon night of the twelfth lunar month, people gather by the water to float a krathong — a small, hand-made float decorated with flowers, a candle and incense — as a way of giving thanks and letting go of the past year. Kamala SAO will host its 2026 celebration on Tuesday 24 November 2026 along the Kamala beachfront, both to carry on this beautiful Thai custom and to support tourism in the Kamala community.

What Was on the Table

The meeting worked through the main elements of this year’s festival. These included the traditional Nang Noppamas beauty pageant, which has long been a highlight of Loy Krathong evenings, along with its rules and prizes, and a krathong-making activity where visitors can learn to make their own float with help from the local community learning centre. Representatives from the police, local businesses and community groups also shared their views on how to make the evening run smoothly for residents and visitors alike.

Part of the Kamala Community

As a hotel in the heart of Kamala, we see local festivals as something to support, not just to enjoy. Taking part in meetings like this is a small but practical way to stay connected with our neighbours and play our part in events that bring the community together — something we also value through our sustainability and community programme.
