On Thursday 15 October 2026, Glam Habitat Hotel Kamala Beach Phuket received some very welcome news: after reviewing our GreenCheck submission, Green Tourism confirmed that the hotel has achieved the Green Tourism Gold Award. It follows an audit on 6 October 2026, where Glam Habitat earned an overall score of 84%. For our whole team, it marks a milestone in a sustainability journey we have been building one small, practical step at a time.

What the Green Tourism Gold Award Means

Green Tourism assesses tourism businesses on their whole approach to sustainability, not just one area. The assessment looks at how a business treats its people, how it connects guests with the place they are visiting, and how it manages its impact on the planet. Gold is awarded to businesses that show strong, consistent performance across all three. For our guests, it is an independent sign that the care we put into running the hotel responsibly has been reviewed and recognised.

Our Report: People, Places and Planet

Our assessment report breaks the 84% overall score down into fifteen goals across three themes:

  • People: Communication 95%, Awareness 86%, Community 90%, Health & Wellbeing 100%, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity 88%.
  • Places: Destination 95%, Experiences 100%, Travel 87%, Food & Drink 86%, and Biodiversity 78%.
  • Planet: Energy 80%, Water 72%, Waste 80%, Carbon 62%, and Chemicals 75%.

Highlights From the Assessment

The assessor singled out three areas in particular:

  • Health & Wellbeing (100%): an excellent performance in protecting and supporting the health and wellbeing of both staff and guests. It is a lovely recognition of work like our annual staff health check.
  • Experiences (100%): outstanding knowledge of the local area and how to enjoy it responsibly, something our team loves sharing with guests every day in Kamala.
  • Energy (80%): several examples of best practice on display, including energy monitoring and conservation measures around the hotel.

These results reflect efforts across every department, from the EDI and green awareness training our team has been completing, to our recent switch to ECOLAB eco-friendly cleaning. The award also builds on the 5-Star STAR certification for sustainable tourism we received in 2025.

Where We Go From Here

Gold is a proud moment, but it is not the finish line. The report also shows clearly where we can keep improving, especially carbon, water and biodiversity. Those are the areas we will focus on next, guided by the feedback in our GreenCheck dashboard. You can follow our progress on our Sustainability Snapshot page.

A heartfelt thank you to every member of Team Glam Habitat, and to Green Tourism for their thorough review and kind words. We look forward to welcoming our award plaque and certificate to the hotel very soon.

Book your stay at Glam Habitat and enjoy a relaxing, award-recognised green stay just steps from Kamala Beach.
