On Wednesday, 22 July 2026, the Glam Habitat team joined the Phuket Tourist Association (PTA) Annual General Meeting 2026 at the Chao Fah Grand Ballroom, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham. Alongside hoteliers, tour operators, and tourism leaders from across the island, we spent the afternoon taking stock of where Phuket’s hospitality industry stands today, and where it’s headed next.
As a boutique pool villa hotel rooted in Kamala Beach, we see gatherings like this as an extension of our own commitment to the destination: Phuket’s tourism industry moves forward when its independent hotels, associations, and communities move forward together.
Shaping Phuket’s Meetings & Conventions Future
The afternoon opened with a look at Phuket’s growing potential as a MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) destination, with insights from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and BITEC on developing the island’s convention infrastructure to welcome bigger, longer-staying groups. A follow-up session introduced the Erasmus+ programme, opening the floor to new opportunities for international education and research collaboration connected to Phuket’s tourism sector.

Reading the Market: Long-Haul Trends & Geopolitics
Two of the afternoon’s most anticipated sessions tackled the bigger picture: navigating the next high season amid shifting long-haul markets and Middle East hub developments, followed by a candid discussion on Thai tourism amid ongoing geopolitical conflicts. For a destination as globally connected as Phuket, understanding these currents is essential to planning ahead, for occupancy, for guest expectations, and for how properties like ours continue to welcome travellers from every corner of the world.

A Showcase of Local Craft & Hospitality Partners
On the sidelines of the meeting, a marketplace of Phuket-based suppliers and community enterprises brought the island’s wider hospitality network into view, from eco-conscious amenity and design houses to hand-embroidered accessories crafted by a women’s community enterprise from Narathiwat. It was a warm reminder that a great guest experience is rarely built alone; it’s stitched together by makers, suppliers, and small businesses across the region.

New Leadership, New Chapter
The AGM also marked the election of PTA’s new board of directors for the 2026-2028 term, a milestone moment for an association that represents the collective voice of Phuket’s tourism businesses. As the formal sessions wound down, the evening moved into a warm networking reception, where conversations continued over Phuket-style bites and pastel pandan cakes.

Carrying Phuket’s Story Forward
Each attendee left with a copy of “Under the Royal Grace: The People of Phuket” (ใต้ร่มพระบารมี ปกเกล้าชาวภูเก็ต), a commemorative record of the island’s history and community, a fitting note to end on for a day spent thinking about Phuket’s past, present, and future in the same breath.

At Glam Habitat, days like this reaffirm why we’re proud to call Kamala Beach home. Being part of Phuket’s tourism community means showing up, not just for our guests, but for the island itself.
