Recently, our team had the pleasure of meeting with Kosapan Distillery, the artisan producer of Thailand’s award-winning craft gin and rum — a brand that beautifully blends heritage, innovation, and sustainability.
Founded by Yann Triffe, a French distiller who fell in love with Thailand’s culture and landscape, Kosapan Distillery was named after Chaophraya Kosapan, the legendary Siamese ambassador who first connected Thailand and France over 300 years ago. The name reflects the same spirit of cultural exchange and respect that defines Kosapan’s craft — the art of merging French distilling expertise with Thai agricultural excellence.
Located amid the lush countryside of Nonthaburi, Kosapan Distillery produces rhum agricole, a distinctive style of rum made from freshly pressed sugarcane juice rather than molasses. The sugarcane is organically grown and carefully handpicked, ensuring the highest quality and preserving the natural sweetness of the land. Distillation takes place in a traditional copper alembic still imported from France — a symbol of precision, tradition, and dedication to craft.
Kosapan’s creations capture the essence of Thailand through locally inspired infusions — from pandan and jasmine to tangerine and cocoa — transforming every sip into a story of Thai terroir and artistry. Their excellence has been recognized internationally, with Kosapan winning the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2018.
