On 25–26 July 2026, members of the Glam Habitat team took part in the Phuket HR Patong Open 2026, a two-day badminton tournament held at PK Arena in Ban Phon, Patong. The event was organized by HR Patong Club, the human resources management club for hotels and tourism businesses in the Patong area, with one goal in mind: building camaraderie and strengthening relationships across the local hospitality community.
Badminton courts aren't the usual place you'd find hotel colleagues from across Patong together, but that's exactly the point. Between rallies and rest breaks, the tournament turned into a chance to meet the people behind the front desks, kitchens, and back offices of the hotels we share this stretch of Phuket with.
A Friendly Court, Open to Everyone
The tournament ran two categories: one open to the general public, and one specifically for hotel and tourism business teams. Each was further split by skill level, and organizers made a point of not exempting stronger players from lower divisions, so that every team, regardless of experience, had a fair match to look forward to. Trophies and prize money were on offer in every division, with entry fees going toward the prize pool.
Friendly Rivalries on the Court
Matches were competitive but good-natured, with players and opponents posing together at the net before and after their games. It's a small tradition that says a lot about the spirit of a tournament like this: everyone's there to play hard, but also to enjoy the company of people they'll likely be working alongside, in one way or another, for years to come.
Between the Matches
As much as the action happened on court, plenty happened on the sidelines too. Between games, players and teammates traded stories, rehydrated, and cheered each other on from the benches, the kind of easy, unhurried conversation that's harder to come by during a normal work week.
Representing Glam Habitat
Glam Habitat's name was up courtside throughout the tournament, marking our team's matches within the hotel and tourism business division. It was a proud, low-key way to show up for an event built around community rather than competition alone.
Why This Matters to Us
Running a hotel is often a fairly solitary business, each property focused on its own guests, its own routines. Tournaments like the Phuket HR Patong Open are a reminder that we're also part of a wider community of hospitality professionals across Patong, all facing similar challenges and worth knowing better. For our team, it was a welcome day away from the daily routine, a bit of friendly competition, and a good excuse to build relationships that go beyond the workplace.
